Meet Our Coaches
Head Coach: Alycia Connorton
Alycia’s lengthy career in swimming began at the age of four and she has been passionate about it ever since. She has excelled during her swimming career, ranking Provincially in the top four in several events. Alycia has coached for the Abbotsford Whalers during the past 9 years, as well as the Langley Olympians. Along with her coaching, she also found time to provide swim lessons in both Abbotsford and Chilliwack.
Alycia’s coaching philosophy incorporates friendships, setting goals and having fun. These attributes are the fundamental reason why Alycia returns to the pool year after year to coach. Her sound coaching philosophy provides the groundwork for a well rounded swimming program that leaves her swimmers feeling positive about themselves after training sessions and competitions. Alycia particularly enjoys watching her swimmers make improvements and achieve their goals, but she also feels that it is important to show support for all swimmers in the club.
Alycia grew up in Aldergrove, is very passionate about life in general and believes there is much to be grateful for! She enjoys baking; new things, old things, classic things….. anything! She is currently in her first year of nursing at UFV.
Assistant Coach: Colton Peterson
This will be Colton’s third year coaching with the Stingrays, and he is no stranger to the Chilliwack swimming scene. Colton has been swimming for the Chilliwack Spartans for 10 years and achieved national standards as a senior swimmer. This past year Colton has been swimming for UBC and has had a great season. Colton has placed top 20 at the World Trials and has medalled at Summer Nationals.
Swimming is a huge part of Colton’s life and he is excited to share his knowledge with the Stingray swimmers. Colton helps out at Spartan meets and enjoys working with younger swimmers on their starts, turns and strokes. His goals for the future include coaching swimming and completing a degree in kinesiology.
